Arianna Lemus, who held the title of Miss Colorado USA last year, has stepped down from her position in a call for reform within the Miss USA organization.

Lemus announced her resignation on Instagram last week, expressing solidarity with Noelia Voigt and UmaSofia Srivastava, former Miss USA and Miss Teen USA 2023 respectively, who also relinquished their titles recently.

In her statement, Lemus highlighted the stifling of Voigt and Srivastava’s voices due to contractual constraints that undermined their rights and dignity. She emphasized the pressing need for reform within the Miss USA organization, citing these women as compelling examples.

This decision marks a significant shift from Lemus’s previous positive sentiments towards the organization, which she expressed last fall. In October, she praised the Miss USA organization for empowering women to confidently showcase themselves.

Hailing from Gunnison, Lemus’s resignation raises questions about the future of the Miss Colorado USA title. With a new Miss Colorado USA originally slated to be crowned at the end of June, CBS Colorado has reached out to the organization for clarification on their plans regarding the vacancy.
